Tom Clark is a photographer based in Miami offering still life, food and product photography services throughout the US.

With a new still life photography project underway, I’ve been exploring new approaches (for me at least) to shooting particular subjects. Lighting and composition have typically dictated most of my photographic decision making, but now I’m letting color carry more weight in the creative process. For instance, this image is dominated by two contrasting, muted colors, but sprinkled with a rainbow of bold colors. By shifting my attention to color, I’ve opened a fresh pair of eyes and have brought some joy back to making a living.

Ice cream naturally came to mind as a potential subject to explore regarding color, and I sourced the props from Mad Lab Creamery a Miami based sweet shop who masters the use of color to make their offerings more appetizing.
